Boat work

Whilst Argonaut had undergone an extensive refit in the last 4 months, there were numerous projects still to complete and sailing through a hurricane, unsurprisingly had only compounded the extent of work required. In the last week we’d tackled the following but the list unfortunately doesn't end there.

Monkey business

  • Re install leaking saloon windows (with the help of Mexican labour and Google translate)

  • Gen-set oil and filter replacement, replace oil pressure sensor,

  • Replace check stays,

  • Replace main engine split fuel hose,

  • Replace main engine on-engine fuel filter,

  • Rewire windlass and replace bow locker bilge pump,

  • Fix loose locking mechanism to bow locker,

  • Remount hot water cylinders (dislodged during hurricane)

  • New power supply to hot water heaters from DB,

  • Reseal dorade vents,

  • Install rubber protective matting for dive tank storage,

  • Rearrange services in lazarette to protect for storage,

  • Relocate spare anchor to forward locker and devise mounting arrangement.

  • Remount and seal main engine control panel.

  • Remove stay sail for repair.

  • Drain contaminated fuel tanks.

No job was straightforward, and one job would often initiate another. We’d fallen into routine of using the nearby resort pool for daily work load and progress review meetings, occasionally with a Pina Colada.
